In order to use an image or other file on a web site, it has to be on the server, the same machine that holds all other information about the web site. If the file is just stored on your local computer, it won't be accessible by other visitors to the website. Two common cases where this happens are when including an image on your web page or when creating a link to download another file such as a word document or powerpoint presentation.
In this example, I have a page where I would like to insert the picture of a boat halfway through the story. And then make a link at the bottom which lets the visitor to the site download a wordF document which has a calendar of boating events for this season.
Putting an Image on the Page
Step 1:
Put your cursor where you would like the image and click on the insert image button on the top bar.
(Note: if you see an empty white box instead of the gray one with buttons like in the picture below, click on the "Input format" link and select "Editor - WYSIWYG")

Step 2:
Next, click the "Browse Server" Button on the tan window that pops up.

Click the "Upload" link at the top of the next window, then the "Browse..." button.
Search for the file in the location that it is stored on your computer and open it in the next window that appears. In this case, I'm going to add the boat image to my web page.
Click on the "Upload" button, and your file should copy over the internet from your computer to the server. This process should only take a few seconds for most files.
A preview of your image should appear in the bottom-right corner of the window, and the file name should be automatically selected in the list in the middle of the window. Either click on the image preview or press enter to select it. The window should now close.
(Note: if the image you want to use has already been uploaded to the server, simply find it in the list and click on the preview.)
You should now be seeing the same tan window as before, but this time, it is showing the image you have selected. If you would like to change the size, border, or alignment of the image, you can do that here. When you're satisfied, click OK.
And you're done!
Your image should appear in the flow of your document. You can resize or reposition it as you like.
Creating a link to download a document
First, type the text that will become the link. After higlighting it, click the "Insert/Edit Link" button.
Click the "Browse Server" button on the tan window, and follow steps 3, 4, and 5 in the above section to upload the document to the server.
(Note: to make an email link, select "Email" from the Link Type drop-down list. Also, to link to another page, first, type in the address in the URL box and click OK.)
And you're done!
After you save the page, the link should function like normal. You can now highlight the link and edit or remove it by clicking the "Insert/Edit Link" or "Remove Link" buttons.
